FUN THINGS GOING ON - The GA Coast Scholarship

We have all survived the first few days of "back to school".  It got a little intense in Folkston with the police cars and the school buses, but we all managed to get where we needed to go in an orderly fashion.  There are still one or two spots where I have to remind myself school is back in session and SLOW DOWN.  Other than that, I have started two new fall projects.  I am recovering my dinning room chairs.  The current fabric is about 30 years old and has held up very well.  It's a vanilla ice cream color brocade with piped edges.  The new fabric is more a light taupe.  It's soft on top and a canvas type backing.  It should also wear well.  I am springing for new foam which I did not do last go around.  It is so depressing taking off the old cushion covers and the sand and dust - not to mention pulling out all the rusty staples.  I have 6 of the 8 seat covers removed.  I put a show on TV and just work away at it.  I'm looking forward to having my first dinner party with the new seats.  I have a looong way to go before then.  Have loose joints to glue.  Woodputty old screw holes.  Most of the seats only had 2-3 screws as the others were not holding.  It was time.

The other project is our upstairs office/bonus room.  It's the only room in the house we haven't painted since moving in (except for the MBR closet).  We are disassembline the shelving and starting to move the "stuff" out.  I want to paint the ceiling also which is dry.  New carpet with padding is on order.  The guest room is below this room, so good padding is a must.  The actual painting is a very short part of this project.  It's sorting and moving all the stuff - and the massive desk in the corner.

For fun, John and I have joined the JAX Zoo as members.  We had to go in person as we get military discount.  I found out they do have mobility movers (scooters) for rent when we take Mom.  We took a quick trip on the train around the park which was a nice break in the day.  It really is a short ride down there.
