Did you set your clocks ahead yesterday? How do you stand on Daylight Savings Time? I am against. I would like to see it finally put to rest. Time to join the rest of the world.
We are working on Spring projects right now. James and I are working on a drainage issue in our back yard. Our neighbor built a burm with bushes some years back which is restricting how water drains on one side of our yard. To combat this, we found a Youtube video out of Norway about vertical drainage. It would be difficult to put in French drains due to the location of the ponding. We are now digging 2-3 foot deep holes about 9-12" across. Line them with landscaping fabric and fill with rock. Cover over with the fabric and put grass plug back on top. We only have one dug so far. I will keep you posted how it is working. It's worth a try.
Other Spring projects we are working on include murphy oil soap and lemon oiling all our wood furniture. We have a lot of wood in the house so this is both necessary and a big job. With the a/c running pretty much year round, wood dries out. John is busily replacing A/C filters and batteries in clocks and smoke alarms. All the fun stuff. What fun things are you working on at your house?

Free Oak Grove Cemetery Tour – Saturday, March 15, 2025
A free in-depth tour of the history of St. Marys as told through stories of Oak Grove Cemetery will be given at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025. Kay Westberry, author of Oak Grove Cemetery—Quiet Reflections on the History of St. Marys and Its People, will again be leading this popular tour. The tour is open to the general public.
Reservations may be made by calling 912-882-5301. If there is no answer, please leave a message with your name, the number in your party, and a phone number where you can be reached in case of cancellation due to bad weather.
Majestic Oak Grove has been an intriguing location since it was created and laid out as part of St. Marys in 1787-88. Approximately 29 soldiers of the American Revolution as well as soldiers from all wars fought by our country lie in peaceful repose under the beautiful live oaks which shade their rest. The City’s ties with the ocean and rivers are obvious from the markers in honor of captains, seamen and fishermen.
Please park on the Weed Street side of the cemetery and meet at the main entrance gate there. The tour will last approximately an hour and a half or as long as questions keep coming.
The tour is free, but donations are accepted and will be used for repairing monuments in need.
