Rain, rain go away.... At least I have several new projects to keep myself busy. I have started reupholstering the 8 dinning room chairs - along with some minor gluing and other maintenance items. I have broken everything down, found fabric at my favorite store - Beyond Fabric. I am springing for new foam for the cushions, so they should be ready to do duty for a good long while. I was taking apart one of the old cushion covers for a pattern piece and managed to stick my hand with the seam ripper. It's not deep, but hurts like the #$%@. The price of glory. John and James are down by Mom helping her get ready to list her home down in Florida. She closes on her house up here next month. It will be so great to have her close again.
The other project we started in painting the one room in the house we have not done yet - the upstairs bonus room/office. I've shoved most of the furniture and workout equipment to the middle and put plastic over the bundle. The corner desk and (God help me) lateral filing cabinet are another matter. I'm waiting for the boys to get home to do the heavy moving. I did manage to get two coats on the ceiling. It's only about 8" so I was able to reach everything with a roller on a pole. We're replacing the 22 year old carpeting, so I'm not super worried about paint drips. I'll load some pictures when it's done. I am also going to make some new curtains for the windows at the end of the room. Current ones are brown. Solid brown. They do well to keep out the light, but they are brown.

AI is turning into a real no-brainer.
It’s 2049 and college students Miles Cooper and Halle Hernandez just landed internships with The Department of SAILE, or Support for Artificial Intelligence in Law Enforcement, when the unthinkable happens. For the first time since AI has become self-aware (albeit coded to prioritize logic over emotional decision making), a fatal car crash involving a developer of the world’s first artificial neural network (ANN) is leading members of SAILE to believe that AI has thrown logic completely out the window.
Soon, the programming error responsible for the demise of a Descartes Labs employee begins turning every AI-powered system in the city of Jacksonville into one big (and highly emotional) basket case. Robotic pilots diverting commercial flights to Orlando just to see theme parks. Android waiters assaulting rude customers with faces full of pie. Personal Service Robots (PSRs) arguing with their owners over who they love more, them or the fridge. Smart cars doing dumb things. Androids on strike. Cybernetic chaos ensues.
Now, it’s up to Miles, Halle, Captain Bernard McArthur (SAILE’s fearless leader), his PSR Rocky (an android programmed to sound like the famous fictional boxer) and a dynamic cast of white-hat hackers and teenage sleuths to stop the spread of AI-gone-awry before the world gets any dumber.
Born in Georgia in 1983, J.M. Lanham spent summers in the foothills of the Appalachians surrounded by lots of woods, little access to power, and stacks of paperbacks to explore. Some of his influences include Michael Crichton, Stephen King, John Grisham, Philip K. Dick, H.G. Wells, Robert Ludlum, and Isaac Asimov, among many others.
Many fans of Lanham's work have compared it to techno-thrillers written by Douglas Richards, Dean Koontz, Blake Crouch, Douglas Preston, and Lincoln Child.
Lanham now lives in Florida with his wife and two sons and works as a professional copywriter and real estate agent. When he's not helping his wonderful clients or fleshing out his latest thriller he can usually be found within a mile or two of the beach.
