Time to find out who has the cheapest mulch. We managed to avoid mulching last year (John does tend to lay things on thick and it needed time to compost down a bit). We traditionally buy local. It only makes sense to support the town you live in so it stays healthy, so we tend to lean toward Ace Hardware. Our Neighbor said they found a good deal at Liberty. Where do you find your mulch? The other big issue is color. We have had red for several years and I am thinking of changing. It's amazing how big an impact the color (or type) of mulch you put in your beds has on the look of your home.
Along with mulch is the ever popular fertilizer. I fed the palms and azaleas this weekend. There was a lot of yard debris from the rain recently. There seems to always be a never ending supply of pine cones. There was some evidence of digging. With all the bulldozing over near us with the new development going in, a lot of wildlife has been migrating over our way. This includes armadillos, birds, deer, snakes and other assorted displaced creatures. My mother's bird feeder is getting some good action.
We did get a quick trip down to the John's Town Center Saturday. We had to drop mom's car off at the dealer on Atlantic Blvd for service. I was not happy to find two of the shops I was looking forward to browsing in were no longer there. Did a tour through Dillards. They had some fabulous shoes, but the clothes were strange cartoonish colors and the prices were jaw dropping. Thankfully we ended up at Chico's who were having a big sale (buy one get one free) and I found a couple of new tops. John ended up at his got to Lucky Jeans store and picked up some new jeans. Rounded out the day with lunch at Maggionies. Their house salad with shrimp was great (avocado, bacon, onion, tomato with balsamic vinegar dressing - yumm).
I am so glad it is finally warming up. This is one of the best time of year to be out. Hope it lasts a bit before the real heat returns.
